Haiti Earthquake Relief

E-mail Print PDF

Dr Schweitzer's Hospital Fund (DSHF) has been sending regular annual donations to the Albert Schweitzer Hospital (HAS) in Haiti for many years and have direct personal knowledge of the management of this hospital which is the nearest functioning hospital to the earthquake zone (approx 2 hours drive away), but suffered no serious damage.  However, as a result of the earthquake the influx of patients is vastly outstripping its capacities and they need donations to cope.

DSHF is now sending repeated donations as funds are available knowing with certainty that 100% of what is given will go directly towards the treatment of patients. We can forward 100% of any donations we receive and cheques should be made out to:

Dr Schweitzer's Hospital Fund care of Mrs Wendy Schweitzer, Honorary Treasurer, Bobbin Cottage, Church Hill, Shere, Guildford, Surrey, GU5 9HJ, UK. Cheques should be marked "For HAS Haiti"

Friends of Albert Schweitzer (UK)Reverence for Life says that the only thing we are really sure of is that we live and want to go on living. This is something that we share with everything else that lives, from elephants to blades of grass - and, of course, every human being. So we are brothers and sisters to all living things, and owe to all of them the same care and respect that we wish for ourselves.

Welcome to the Friends of Albert Schweitzer (UK) website. Some of us knew and worked with Schweitzer in Africa and others of us have learnt about him and developed a strong admiration for what he has done and what he has left to humanity in his written works. This site is a record of our journey of discovery.
